According to top sources, PDP Senior Leader and Parliament Member Muzzafar Hussain Baig is likely to get Finance Minister Portfolio after the ouster of Haseeb Drabu.
Pertinently, Sources told that "After removal of Haseeb Drabu many leaders, MLAS of PDP are interested to see the mature, veteran, knowledgeable figure of Muzzafer Hussain Beigh as the new Finance Minister of the state".
Party leaders are also interested in using his huge experience and political acumen to guide the party in right direction and show them way out of this tough situation. Muzaffar Hussain Baig, is among the prominent legal personalities of the state also Known as The Gentleman Lawyer who has got his master's degree from Harvard Law School. Besides working in top law firms in USA and New Delhi in India, Muzaffar Baig was also the Advocate General of the J& K.
To his credit, Baig has wealth of political experience too to guide PDP party at this critical Juncture.
Baig, A former deputy chief minister of state of Jammu and Kashmir(J&K). He is among the top leaders of the Jammu and Kashmir People's Democratic Party and till 2006 was deputy chief minister. He was elected to the Legislative Assembly of the J&K state in 2002 and 2008. He also held the position of Law Minister and Parliamentary Affairs Minister in the state cabinet from the period of 2002-2006.
Baig was elected to the Lok Sabha in 2014 from Baramulla Constituency . Many deem him top choice to hold the portfolio to guide both state and party towards betterment.
